Congratulations!

Mariachi Huenachi has been chosen to receive a 2010 Washington Education Association Human and Civil Rights Award! The band's work and accomplishments is being honored in the category of "International Peace and Understanding." The Director, Mr. Ramon Rivera, has found and provided an incredible link between students' heritage and their school. Mariachi Huenachi is an opportunity to promote international peace and understanding.

Mariachi Huenachi will be presented with a plaque and a $200 donation to the program at the May 25th Wenatchee School Board Meeting.

"Shout Outs" Across the Council

Omak’s Teacher of the Year is Cathy Darley. Cathy is active in her local association and is currently their Vice-President.

Brewster’s Teacher of the Year is Kathy Leaver. Kathy is also active in her local association and is currently their Treasurer.

Mary Boyd, active member in the Omak Education Association has been selected to be an NEA trainer in the Social Justice Cadre.
